Join Miranda Wildman in the new Art League Classroom for a delightful day of creating festoonery for all occasions. Using a mixture of recycled, upcycled, vintage, and new supplies we will construct beautiful 3D party decorations. Miranda will guide you every step of the way!

All of the art materials you need to create will be provided and each participant will leave with enough festoonery to decorate for any fête. This workshop is designed with everyone in mind so all are welcome to attend. No art experience required! The focus throughout our time together will be playful and explorative. You do not need to know how to create 3D art to enjoy making art with us!

What in the world is festoonery? According to a few different dictionaries it's a collection of festoons, and festoons are a string or chain made of flowers, foliage, ribbon, or similar materials suspended usually in a curve between two points such as posts or corners of a room. Festoonery is used to decorate a room or space for a special occasion or milestone event of some kind.

Do you have to have an event to enjoy having fetoonery in your life? Absolutely not! You can decorate any corner of your life with the festoonery you create. I love making festoons and adorning doorways, windows, hallways, ceilings, or any place that deserves a little pizazz any time of year. But if you do have a special occasion coming up, this is the perfect way to add some festive, handmade art to the atmosphere of celebration.

We had so much fun the first time, we can’t wait to pass the painting again!

Everyone begins with their own canvas and paints for 10 minutes. When the timer rings, we pass our paintings one seat to the right and continue painting on our neighbor’s piece. Ten minutes later…ding! We pass again. Layer by layer, color by color, each painting becomes a vibrant collaboration.

Expect bold colors, expressive marks, happy accidents, and lots of laughter. No experience needed—this workshop is all about letting go, having fun, and seeing what unfolds when we create together.

At the end, Miranda will turn all the paintings around and number them. Each person will draw a number from a hat to discover which collaborative masterpiece they’ll take home. You might not leave with the one you started but you’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind, abstract painting made by the whole table. A creative community collaboration to cherish forever!

By experimenting with shape and texture, light and timing, we’ll produce unique, one-of-a-kind prints on paper that celebrate and honor the delicate beauty of the natural world. Choose from a marvel of pencils, markers, and enchanting coloring pages & coloring books, then let your hands make the magic: no pressure, no deadlines, just the quiet rhythm of color on paper.

This is a soft landing for full days and full thoughts. Come alone or with a friend, drift in conversation or sit in peaceful silence. Both are welcome here. Step away from the noise for a while and settle into something simple and soothing. We’ll gather around big tables, pass colors back and forth, admire each other’s pages, and remember what it feels like to make something just for the sake of it. Much like the Off Grid Club that Miranda founded last year, she has designed everything to feel effortless, grounding, and a little whimsical while we unplug.

Leave with a finished artwork (or not!) and leave feeling lighter, more clear, and gently reconnected, to yourself and your fellow creatives.

Local mixed media artist Miranda Wildman welcomes you to the whimsical world of abstract landscape painting. Using wood painting panels as our substrate, we will explore layers upon layers of abstract mark making with vibrant acrylic paint. After we have set the stage with our luscious painted backgrounds, we will add quaint cottages, grand facades, and beautiful abodes with Miranda’s favorite image transfer techniques. With step by step instructions, this abstract painting workshop is fully guided. For final touches Miranda will present surprise mixed media materials to embellish our spectacular scenes! Forest & Flora: Abstract Painting Workshop with local artist Miranda Wildman at ArtPlay

Spend a Sunday afternoon of playful exploration in acrylic paints with us!

In this uplifting workshop, Miranda will guide you in translating the awe, calm, and vibrancy of Western North Carolina’s natural world into abstract landscapes. No experience is needed—just a willingness to explore, play, and let the forests, flora and mountains move you.

You’ll first experiment on a smaller wood panel as a warm up, then move to creating on a larger 12 × 12 wood panel.

What to expect:

• Inspired Landscapes: Capture not what you see, but what you feel in nature—misty ridgelines, lush forest landscapes, glowing sunsets, tumbling rivers, and quiet creekside moments.

• Magical Layers: Build depth and texture with radiant acrylics and mixed media that let your imagination wander.

• Creative Belonging: This workshop is for every artist, at every level, from all walks of life.

• Techniques with Heart: Miranda will share her own intuitive approaches to creating luminous layers and textures that evoke memory, mood, and wonder using the prismatic color palette folks have recognized in her work.

• Atmosphere of Play: A cozy, welcoming space to create freely, connect with others, and leave with a piece that’s uniquely yours.

Magic Gardens:

Large Scale Works on Paper with local artist Miranda Wildman @ Artplay Asheville

Magic Gardens is a large-scale painting workshop inspired by the way gardens grow. Slowly, sometimes unexpectedly, and in conversation with time.

Working with acrylic ink, paint, and marker and intuitive mark making, we’ll build layered paintings that feel cultivated rather than controlled. Colors will blend, overlap, and surprise. Lines and shapes may echo stems + branches, fruits + florals,  pathways + meanderings, weather + seasons, or vibrant, imagined landscapes. Some marks will feel intentional. Others will arrive unannounced!

This workshop invites you to work big, letting your whole body participate, the paper becoming a place where curiosity can wander. We’ll explore transparency, shape, rhythm, and repetition, using water as both collaborator and vehicle for colors. 

There’s no finished image to chase. No right way for a garden to grow.

Instead, we’ll practice noticing when to add, when to wait, and when to let something remain unresolved. The focus will be on layering, listening, and staying present with the magic emerging.

All experience levels are welcome. This is a spacious, supportive environment for anyone curious about abstraction, color, and working at a large scale with mixed media paper. Come as you are, ready to experiment, make a beautiful mess, and see what wants to grow in your magic garden!

Design, Carve, Stamp : Rubber Stamp Carving Workshop with Miranda Wildman

Ready to make a tiny printing press you can hold in your hand? 

Join me for a colorful, joy-filled workshop where we’ll design and carve our own easy rubber stamps inspired by bold graphics and playful line drawings like the ones you see here.

This beginner-friendly class is all about simple shapes, expressive lines, and one-of-a-kind designs that are all you. I’ll guide you step by step through transferring your design, carving safely and confidently, and inking up your stamp for that deeply satisfying first print. 
We’ll experiment with vibrant colors, layered printing, and pattern making. You can keep it minimal and graphic or go with a pattern. Your stamp can be as unique as your handwriting.

The best part? You leave with a reusable stamp you can print with again and again for years to come. Make your own wrapping paper, greeting cards, fabric accents, art journals, party decorations, tags for homemade gifts, seasonal craft projects, and more. One small block, endless possibilities.
