I will conjure up a custom art party, workshop or retreat for you and your guests! I will arrive with my vintage suitcases full to the brim with art supplies and set the stage for an art event to remember. YOU can concentrate on giving your guests a warm and heartfelt welcome and your guests will be entertained with my creative + gentle guidance through an immersive art experience.

You and your guests will have the unique opportunity to learn how to create stunning mixed media mementos on wood or canvas, perfect for sharing as thoughtful gifts or cherishing as lasting memories. Miranda will gently guide you in the use of a variety of materials, including vibrant acrylic paint, delicate watercolor paint, playful water-soluble crayons, assorted hand painted paper, vintage flora and fauna ephemera, and a delightful array of surprise mixed media elements, all resulting in beautiful and expressive art pieces. Throughout the art party, we will focus on the joy of play and the excitement of experimentation with colors, textures, and layers, encouraging creativity to flow freely. All levels of experience are warmly welcomed, so everyone can enjoy this artistic journey together!

watercolor shadowplay event

Join us for a special evening of art making where Miranda will share her shadow painting techniques with you by way of the delightful use of watercolor paints, pencils, and various papers to create enchanting art pieces inspired by shadows. Together, we will explore the mesmerizing interplay of lights, captivating shadows, intriguing shapes, and vibrant colors as we playfully engage with beautiful botanicals as our inspiration. All of this unfolds while we bask in the cozy glow of the wonderful atmosphere that Miranda lovingly prepares for us. We warmly welcome participants of all levels of experience, from beginners to seasoned artists. You may choose from an indoor, evening Shadow Art Soirée, or an outdoor, sunny day for a Shadow Art Garden Party!

Sketchbook art event

In this exciting sketchbook extravaganza, you will playfully ground and thoughtfully develop your very own travel sketchbook. Miranda will gently guide you through the process of making expressive marks and creating beautiful abstract compositions using simple, yet impactful, art materials. We will delve into a discussion about the types of materials that are fabulously suited for travel and everyday outings, while also exploring the profound benefits of recording the feelings and experiences we encounter in various places through the lens of art-making. Each guest will leave with their own unique travel sketchbook, fully equipped to continue creatively documenting and capturing the essence of all of their adventures.

Collective Collage event

Gather for a vibrant Collective Collage gathering, where you and your fellow participants will come together to create an impressive large-scale, collaborative collage that captures the essence of your gathering. Miranda will lovingly guide you in crafting a stunning poster-sized collage, which can be thoughtfully divided into smaller, personalized collages for each participant to take home and cherish at the end of this engaging experience. During our time together, we will joyfully experiment and play with an array of hand-painted papers, delightful vintage ephemera, recycled paper materials, and colorful paints. This art party not only encourages creativity but also serves as a fantastic team-building experience for all involved. We warmly welcome individuals of all levels of artistic experience, so let your imagination flow freely!

WATERCOLOR WONDERMENT event

Join us for an engaging and imaginative abstract watercolor class where we will delve into the wonderfully experimental world of playful and expressive abstract art. Participants will have the opportunity to explore layers upon layers of color and texture, creating vibrant and fun works of art that reflect their individual creativity. Whether you are a seasoned artist with years of experience or a complete beginner just starting out, everyone is warmly welcomed and encouraged to participate in this joyful artistic journey together.

CYANOTYPE Art event

You and your guests will have the exciting opportunity to create stunning cyanotype prints on either paper or fabric. Cyanotype is a fascinating historical photographic process that incredibly does not require the use of a camera! Miranda will take the time to explain a bit about this age-old process, sharing its significance and charm, and then you will embark on the journey of creating expressive compositions by utilizing natural elements along with everyday objects to develop beautiful photographic prints in the warm sun. We can choose to make prints on paper that can be framed, or we can craft exquisite silk scarves that make sensational and thoughtful gifts for loved ones. All levels of experience are warmly welcomed, so come ready to explore your creativity!

ABSTRACT PAINT + TRANSFER event

Miranda will provide gentle, creative guidance and all necessary materials, including paints, brushes, wood painting panels, and image transfer supplies.We will play with abstract landscape composition and learn how to create scenes with depth by layering acrylic paint with brush techniques to add texture and detail. We will also explore color interactions to create a mood in your artwork.As one of our layers we will incorporate chosen images into paintings using transfer techniques to personalize your piece. Optional: bring photographs or printed images of houses, barns, or any buildings you love (we will make copies to transfer).

Creating art playfully and without judgment lets us forget about being perfect. It opens room for self-reflection, connecting with others, and simply enjoying the process. Further more, making art together in a judgment-free space challenges ideas of what art “should be,” sparking conversations that build understanding and kindness. This open approach celebrates different viewpoints, since everyone’s background, experiences, and culture shape their art uniquely.

What is the atmosphere like at an art event with Miranda?

Miranda creates welcoming, festive spaces using materials such as textiles, candlelight, botanicals, and vintage art. We can art party at your house, a restaurant, a bar, a coffee shop, in an art studio, down by the riverside, on a lake, in a barn, in a wearhouse….you get the picture. We can art party just about anywhere!

What kinds of materials do we make art with?

I strive to source ethically made art supplies that embody a commitment to both creativity and conscience. As much as possible I search for and sample non-toxic pigments and recycled materials and I am a big believer in using “what we have” to make art. It is important to me that I buy art materials from companies where safe working conditions and fair wages for workers are prioritized, ensuring that the creation of art supplies uplifts communities and supports their livelihoods. I will always choose to buy art supplies from small, local, BIPOC + LGBTQA+ businesses over corporate, big box stores.
