We will begin by introducing artists and why they create and the powerful messages behind their work. Each artist uses their craft as a form of resistance, storytelling, and a way to challenge existing power structures.

• Discussion + Exchange of Ideas

Art has been a cornerstone in many resistance movements throughout history — from the bold posters of civil rights activists to the street murals of revolutionaries. We’ll discuss how these visual and performative acts disrupt dominant narratives and provide a voice for those marginalized by society.

Art making itself becomes a form of resistance against the relentless cycle of capitalism, offering an alternative way to express identity, share truth, and build community. It amplifies stories often silenced or ignored, creating a shared space of empowerment.

• Coloring Pages Activity

We’ll select impactful artworks by resistance artists whose messages we can embody and explore hands-on by turning them into coloring pages. Using a variety of coloring materials, participants will add their own interpretations and energy to these pieces.

As we color, we’ll continue the dialogue about the radical power of art to resist, to tell stories, and to create joy and connection. This fun, interactive activity honors the idea that art is truly for everyone—and can be an everyday act of empowerment.
