I am so happy to invite you into a daytime art gathering that gently resists the rush to produce and meet deadlines.
We’ll meet at Art Place Studios in Hendersonville, NC for a few spacious hours devoted to slowing down, making marks, building colorful layers following curiosity, and letting productivity loosen its grip.
I’m Miranda Wildman, a local artist who believes art doesn’t need to be useful, impressive, or perfect to matter. I’ll offer step-by-step guidance through a playful mixed media process, holding space for exploration rather than outcomes. I will demonstrate how I use the art materials in my own work, and together, we’ll create abstract, unique, mixed media artworks on wood, focusing on how it feels to make rather than what the finished piece “should” be.
Gathered around shared tables in the bright Art Place Studios classroom, we’ll work with vibrant acrylic paint, delightful collage materials carefully curated by me, and a variety of surprise mixed media elements on wood panels, No pressure to perform. Just permission to be present with the art materials and each other.
A few details:
— I’ll provide everything we need to create layered mixed media pieces on wood panels. If you please you may bring collage ephemera or mixed media materials of your own to incorporate into your artwork.
- All ages welcome (under 13 with an adult)
- All identities and intersections welcome
- All experience levels welcome from beginner to seasoned artists
This is art as rest, as connection to one another, as a small and meaningful refusal to submit to the status quo. Choosing curiosity over efficiency, we will expand our capacity to express ourselves creatively perhaps in unexpected and new ways. Everyone will leave with a multilayered, vibrant story of an artwork on wood or canvas, either finished or beckoning to unfold further at home.
