dust of snow

Dust of Snow

The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree

Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued.

- Robert Frost

Inspired by Robert Frost’s poem “Dust of Snow”, I dove deep into my memories of growing up in Vermont in the wintertime. My mind flooded with lovely times of frolicking in the snow, it was a truly a delight to create this painting. In this visual story you will find a candlestick, a portal to where you want to be, a crow on a golden branch, pink mountains, evergreen trees, and of course, snow. I thought it ideal timing to share this with you after the day of inauguration. A breath of fresh air, a sigh of relief, a new perspective. A pause to reflect on the moment before moving forward with the work that we are here to do and the lives we are meant to lead and uplift.

Created on a Aquabord painting panel measuring 18 x 24” and wired for display, this painting will be sure to uplift any cozy corner of your home in any season. Colors featured are dark turquoise green, hot pink, mustard yellow, light turquoise green, and florescent yellow. A touch of gold leaf makes the branch that the crow is standing on glimmer in the light. Depending on the environment and time of day where you display this painting you will experience a different feeling at any given moment when gazing at it.

Want to know a secret? This was a painting I made several years ago that I brought out of the archives for another round of paint play! So there are many, many layers in this one. Below you can explore a bit of my process in creating this work, “Dust of Snow”.
